Structural editing & subediting
You may already have the content you want but it needs to be refined and re-ordered, possibly re-worded, to appeal to a particular audience. It may need fewer or more words or a different focus or tone. Sentence structure and flow are important to ensure your audience keeps on reading. A structural edit will achieve this, with care taken to retain the original message and style.
Subediting is an inherent part of a structural edit but can also be a stand-alone service when you are happy with the way your copy reads. In this process the work is checked for correct:
· grammar
· spelling
· punctuation
· sentence structure
· clear expression and word flow
· consistency of style and format.
All changes are tracked so the author has the final say in the wording of the finished document.
